Yin Yoga is a slow, deep practice done in a heated room(about 28C). It is a wonderful way to release tension and really stretch out the body. Postures are held for longer periods of time(1-5 mins) then in other yoga classes. Yin yoga focuses on the joints of the body; releasing connective tissue, and often involves the hips, pelvis and lower spine. It is an excellent complement to more active “yang” (vinyasa) styles of yoga.
A great class for those looking for serious flexibility work, strengthening of the joints and for those interested in contemplation – a bridge to meditation. Also a great class for moms-to-be (pre-natal).
